Project Engineer

Richard comes to McElroy’s with 15 years of service in the plumbing, mechanical and engineering industries. He holds a degree in engineering from Kansas State University and has extensive experience in the design and management of projects, from concept development to the completion of construction. Richard’s responsibilities include commercial HVAC and plumbing design, as well as budgeting, bidding and managing projects.

EXPERIENCE

Richard brings to McElroy's a breadth of experience in the areas of energy efficiency systems, building code safety and lighting design. This includes geothermal system installation and solar power air heating design, as well as lighting systems for office buildings, schools and sports field.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Richard's responsibilities include commercial HVAC and plumbing design, as well as budgeting, bidding and managing projects.

Wade Jueneman

Vice President

Wade has over 20 years of experience in consulting engineering, serving the last 10 years with McElroy’s, Inc. Wade is very knowledgeable in HVAC and plumbing systems. Wade acts as main contact for the customer and is responsible for the mechanical and plumbing design, budget estimation, final estimation as well as managing all aspects of project operations.

EXPERIENCE

Wade has a great amount of experience with building mechanical and plumbing systems and analysis of these systems. His project management experience includes; reviewing and preparing contracts, scheduling, material procurement, submittal approvals, manpower oversight, subcontract oversight, commissioning and final completion documentation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

At McElroy’s Wade is responsible for all aspects of the project from inception to completion. Wade works closely with McElroy’s estimators for final project estimation, specification review, plan takeoff, vendor quote analysis, bid recap, bond analysis and final bid delivery. Wade also maintains customer contact throughout the project, attends project meetings and oversees personnel responsible for the project.

Jerry McElroy

Chairman of the Board

In 1973, McElroy's founder, Homer McElroy, handed the company reigns to his son, Jerry, who ran McElroy's for 32 years. During that span, Jerry was the driving force behind McElroy's growth into one of region's most successful mechanical and construction service providers. Today, Jerry serves as Chairman of the Board, and is also actively involved in the Topeka community.

EXPERIENCE

Jerry's experience in the business dates back to his junior high days, when he'd stop in after school to help his father clean the shop. By high school he was in the field installing HVAC equipment. During the years leading up to becoming president, Jerry led many departments across the company. In 1973, as company president, Jerry's leadership keyed McElroy's steady growth, while his commitment to his father's customer-first vision served as the company's foundation. The McElroy family's leadership and vision continue on at McElroy's, as well as at the four related businesses Jerry has started.

As Chairman of the Board, Jerry provides operational oversight and ongoing support to company president, Dan Beal. In addition, Jerry holds key positions on the boards of numerous local organizations, including:

Dan Beal

President

Dan has more than 26 years of experience in construction and engineering. He joined McElroy's in 1991 after receiving his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering and Masters in Business Administration. He has experience in every facet of the mechanical contracting and service business from employee management to calculating and pursuing new business goals. Dan possesses design and engineering skills that result in client savings.

EXPERIENCE

Dan's skills and experience includes takeoff, estimating, purchasing and project management. He also has extensive experience in design/build projects, which require close interaction with architects, engineers, city officials, owners and construction managers.

Kirk Johnson

Chief Financial Officer

Kirk has more than 20 years of financial management and analysis experience. A self-professed numbers man, his leadership in fiscal budgeting, modeling and policymaking anchors McElroy's executive team. In addition to his top-level management contributions, Kirk plays an active role in McElroy's day-to-day operational and administrative duties.

EXPERIENCE

Kirk's background includes extensive experience in the financial operations of construction and manufacturing companies. He's also served as Vice President of Finance and Planning for a multi-billion dollar regional bank, and founded a property management company. This combination of industry experience, financial management expertise and entrepreneurial spirit make Kirk an ideal fit as McElroy's CFO.
