First United Methodist Church

Mechanical Systems Replacement and Remodel

First United Methodist Church of Topeka has thrived for over 150 years. However, the building itself, a fixture in the community, was in need of a renovation. A comprehensive upgrade was undertaken, and McElroy’s was named general contractor on the project.

The upgrade began with an overhaul of the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. McElroy’s installed a new boiler plant, chiller condensers, air handling and terminal units. The existing two-pipe system was replaced with a more efficient four-pipe system. Renovations also included new rooms, new ceilings and new finishes throughout the building. New fire alarm systems and a fire suppression system rounded out the makeover.
