job summary
This position will be responsible for performing hands-on insulation tasks on maintenance and construction projects utilizing a variety of materials and tools. Adheres to jobsite safety in accordance with all federal, state and local occupational and health safety laws.
essential functions and basic duties:
- Responsibilities
- Remove and install insulation based on specifications of each job.
- Install insulation on piping and ductwork.
- Remove and reinstall insulation as needed to facilitate repairs to piping and ductwork.
- Follow standard operation procedures with equipment setup and operation.
- Loading and/or unloading trailers.
- Equipment operation.
- Continuous improvement of customer service, quality, efficiency and safety.
- Accurate and thorough documentation of hours worked, tasks performed, materials used and processes involved.
- Advise immediate supervisor of job progress and material/labor requirements.
- Accomplish tasks by working from job plans, verbal instructions, schematics, blueprints, documents, vendor/manufacturer manuals and applicable specifications and codes.
- Coordinate workflow with all McElroy’s departments.
- Work closely with all departments to ensure that the drawings convey the correct information.
- Self-check own work for completeness, accuracy and compliance to standards and specifications.
- Perform various other job-related responsibilities.

- Perform tasks outdoors in environmentally challenging conditions including wind and extreme cold weather.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Recognize needs/problems and correct them independently.
- Must be highly detail oriented, able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and possess a high degree of problem-solving capabilities.
​qualifications:
1. Training, education, or certification:
- Experience with pipe and ductwork insulation, construction and maintenance of commercial and/or industrial framework.
2. Knowledge:
- Ability to read and interpret design drawings, specifications and diagrams.
- Possess the competencies, willingness and ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Ability to complete a high quality job while maintaining efficiency.
- Maintain a professional image and thoroughly clean jobsite upon completion of the job.
- Abide by all company processes and procedures.
- Ability to work unsupervised, follow through all assigned projects to completion, and utilize all available resources in the accomplishment of tasks.
3. Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must be willing and able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted.
- Must be willing and able to perform physical activities including heavy lifting, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling and working outdoors.
- Knowledge of construction or related trades preferred but not required.
- Willingness to work in tight spaces and heights.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from worksites.
- Effective communication skills, written and spoken.
- Must have a great attitude, positive mindset and be a team player.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Pre-employment drug screen and background check upon job offer.

Internal Contacts – All office staff and team members of large commercial projects.
Physical Demands – Ability to stand for long periods of time. Involves walking, standing, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or climbing ladders.
