position purpose

This position is for processing inbound and outbound shipments, loading or unloading material, pulling and preparing orders, and maintaining warehouse organization and cleanliness. Purchases tools, supplies, parts and equipment from various vendors and suppliers. Controls inventory to keep costs down while still providing supplies to field craftsmen and managers. Responsible for all paperwork regarding purchasing and credits for damaged items or unused items from a job site. Responsible for all warranty paperwork and returns.

essential functions & basic duties

1) Purchase Materials

a) Confers with vendors to obtain product information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
b) Controls cost by researching best prices on stock material being ordered.
c) Select a supplier that can, during peak work periods, deliver parts in a timely and efficient method.

2) Receiving

a) Loads, unloads, and moves materials and equipment throughout the facility.
b) Verifies accuracy and condition of load.
c) Documents any issues, backorders or damages.
d) Tags and notifies required personnel of delivered material.

3) Control Inventory Levels

a) Evaluate inventory stock and levels over time through usage and make adjustments based on business needs.
b) Track all materials and equipment that are received and store them in their proper place.
c) Return unused material to the vendor in timely manner.
d) Check all parts bins for inventory on a regular basis and replace items that are used frequently.

4) Supply Tools and Materials to Field Craftsmen

a) Receive, research and fill technician requests for pick up or delivery.
b) Verify proper inventory paperwork is filled out and accurate.
c) Track all tools; fill out a tool issue form and give it to the service manager to keep it on file.

5) Coordinate Deliveries with the Warehouse Manager

a) Provide accurate details on where and when the delivery is to be made.
b) Ensure all materials are pulled and marked for the job, or purchase orders for pick-ups are documented.

6) Keep Warehouse Clean and Organized

7) Follow other job-related instructions and perform any other job-related responsibilities requested by the supervisor.

1. Control inventory in order to provide items field craftsmen need in a timely manner while not wasting company resources.
2. Communicate with vendors and field craftsmen to provide parts they need for efficient use of their time.

qualifications

1) Training, education or certification:

a) Preferred: Associate in Purchasing Management or HVAC/Plumbing training.
b) High school diploma or equivalent.

2) Knowledge:

a) Knowledge of commercial, industrial and residential HVAC and/or plumbing materials and systems.
b) Knowledge of purchasing and inventory control.
c) General computer knowledge.

3) Experience:

a) 1-2 years of warehouse experience.
b) 1-2 years inventory or parts purchasing experience.

4) Skills and abilities:

a) Able to communicate effectively and be professional at all times, even under highly stressful peak work periods.
b) Must be self-motivated and willing to learn.
c) Must have good organizational skills and able to pay attention to details.
d) Must be able to lift 30 pounds on a regular basis.
e) Ability to operate forklift, hand truck, pallet jack and other warehouse equipment.

Internal Contacts – All managers and craftsmen. Anyone needing warehouse items.

External Contacts – Has regular contact with vendors and suppliers.

Physical Demands – Must meet Level 3 placement on the Physical Capacity test administered by KBIWCF. Exerting 20 – 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 - 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly. Required walking or standing to a significant degree; or requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls.
