Replacement: Topeka Municipal Building Chiller System

Topeka, KS 200,000 SQ FT

Completed: March 01, 2019

The City of Topeka wanted to replace its Municipal Building’s ageing and inefficient chiller system – all of which needed to be removed and fully replaced before the coming cooling season.

McElroy’s expertly removed and disposed of the existing chiller, cooling towers and all associated piping, controls and refrigerant. We then installed three extraordinarily efficient York magnetic-bearing, water-cooled centrifugal chillers, a three-cell cooling tower, and related piping, accessories and controls. Because the chillers are housed directly below the Topeka Performing Arts Center stage, their exceptionally quiet operation is a great benefit.

Start to finish, this was a challenging project with complex logistics and a demanding terminal deadline. Our highly experienced and innovative installation team completed the entirely new system on time with outstanding functionality, superior reliability, very low sound levels, low maintenance and much lower overall cost of ownership.
