Team More Engineers, More Value
October 20, 2026Having licensed engineers on staff provides significant advantages to a mechanical contractor’s customers and partners. Now that three McElroy’s team members have recently earned their professional engineering licenses, we offer six!
Key Benefits of In-house Engineers
- Better Coordination with Partners: McElroy’s engineers can directly coordinate mechanical layouts with electrical, structural, architectural, and general contracting teams, minimizing clashes before work begins.
- Faster Problem-Solving and Resolution: When unexpected site conditions or design clashes pop up during construction, McElroy’s engineers can modify drawings and promptly issue field fixes, avoiding costly job-site downtime.
- Value Engineering: Our in-house engineers can review specifications to suggest cost-effective materials, equipment, or layout alternatives that preserve system performance while minimizing costs.
- Code Compliance and Risk Mitigation: Our staff engineers ensure HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems adhere to local, state, and national building codes, reducing legal and financial liabilities.
- Competitive Bid Advantage: McElroy’s licensed engineers add confidence when creating bids on large commercial, industrial, or government projects that require stamped engineering drawings.
- In-House Design-Build Capabilities: In-house engineers allow McElroy’s to offer complete design-build services as requested, streamlining project delivery from concept to installation.
The McElroy’s licensed engineering team has long consisted of McElroy’s Chairman Dan Beal, President Wade Jueneman and Project Engineer Richard Hammer. We are proud to say that in the recent 12 months, Adam Outlaw, Parker Beal and Ben Post have all received their licensure as professional engineers.
Adam Outlaw
Adam received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kansas. He began his career with McElroy’s as an estimator, rose to estimating manager and is now a project manager. He gained valuable experience working alongside the McElroy’s registered professional engineers while he was an engineer-in-training. Adam celebrated his five-year anniversary with McElroy’s in September last year, and received his engineering licensure on November 24, 2025.
As a project manager, Adam is a valuable blend of being technically minded and a strong communicator. He manages all aspects of assigned projects from start to finish. His estimating experience helps Adam ensure that projects are properly quoted and financially managed to maximize customer value. His qualifications as a registered professional engineer assist him with seeing that projects are well-planned and executed in the field.
Parker Beal
Parker received his Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering from the University of Kansas, where he also earned a Master of Science in Business Administration. Parker has experience in several McElroy’s departments including commercial construction, commercial plumbing service, commercial HVAC service and the McElroy’s prefabrication team. Parker became a licensed engineer on August 14, 2026 and will celebrate five full-time years with McElroy’s on December 6, 2026.
Parker is a detail-oriented and results-driven project manager – always striving to satisfy customers’ needs in a timely fashion. He has drawn commercial-building mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems using Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD, and produced commercial construction bids with Trimble AutoBid. His keen understanding of mechanical systems allows him to expertly support project execution from design through bid and construction.
Ben Post
Ben received his Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering from Kansas State University, following a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Washburn University. Ben has strong engineering design skills and is also experienced in mechanical project estimating, enabling him to price his own designs and understand the costs of different design decisions. Ben completed five years with McElroy’s in May 2026 and received his engineering licensure on September 10, 2026.
Ben has been the primary mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) system designer for numerous projects including commercial offices, retail facilities, childcare facilities, and the MEP components of wastewater treatment plants, thermal storage systems, a meat processing facility and various industrial MEP systems. Ben’s ability to holistically understand and participate in projects from conception, to creating clear and efficient designs, to final pricing is an asset for our customers and partners.
