Service Trevor Boudeman: 10 Years of Shared Solutions

June 01, 2026

“Trevor Boudeman takes pride in his work as an HVAC problem solver, and I’m confident he can handle most any challenge,” said Keith Watkins, McElroy’s vice president and commercial HVAC service manager. “He’s mechanically inclined and very well-rounded. Best of all, he understands the value of building up others, and is an excellent teacher for less experienced techs. That’s a rare and valuable quality in someone so young!” Trevor Boudeman, commercial HVAC service tech, celebrates his 10th work anniversary with McElroy’s on June 1, 2026. We appreciate Trevor’s expertise, plus his ability to learn new skills and methods, and pass them on to others.

Trevor grew up in Carbondale, Kansas, where he played football and baseball at Santa Fe Trail High School. “My father, Randy, owns Boudeman Family Motors, a used car dealership in Topeka. I grew up learning mechanical skills there and in rental homes my family owns,” Trevor said. “My junior and senior years, I took HVAC classes with Washburn Tech and earned a certificate.” Keith Watkins is a Santa Fe Trail alumnus, whose kids attended the school while Trevor was there, so Keith knew Trevor well. Keith offered Trevor a position on the McElroy’s team upon graduation.

“He goes all out”

“Trevor was one of my first apprentices, and one of the best I’ve had,” said Brent Gordon, McElroy’s commercial HVAC service supervisor. “From the outset Trevor showed up every day ready to put his heart into the job. He always paid attention, asked good questions, and picked up skills quickly. Today we rely on Trevor a lot. He cares passionately about his craftsmanship and solving HVAC problems the best ways that he can. Simply put … he goes all out.”

“McElroy’s is a great place to be an apprentice, and even better as you develop your abilities,” said Trevor. “Riding with Brent every day was a terrific way to get my start. Just six months in, I was offered a company van. And after a year, I began getting solo assignments. McElroy’s is careful to send you on calls you can handle, getting more challenging as you’re encouraged to grow. If you run into a situation that has you stumped, you can call one of the other techs. Everyone is willing to share whatever knowledge and tricks of the trade they have!”

Job Satisfaction

Trevor is scheduled to work every Friday at Shawnee Heights High School, keeping their HVAC systems running optimally. Otherwise, his assignments change frequently. “Mostly I service existing systems. It’s satisfying to problem solve for different issues in different places,” Trevor said. “For a change of pace, I like removing worn-out systems and installing new things like fresh piping and more efficient boilers. Those days go by fast!”

Young but Experienced

“Trevor is a great teacher who wants everyone to succeed. He encourages me to do a lot of hands-on work, and isn’t afraid to point out anything that’s not right,” said Cameron Henderson, McElroy’s commercial HVAC service tech. “Trevor’s not even 30, but he shows me tricks of the trade that very experienced guys would know. We discuss new types of equipment, and during downtime he’ll review manuals with me. He’s even a friend outside of work, getting together for activities like archery.”

“When I started at McElroy’s there were about a dozen people on the commercial HVAC service team,” said Trevor. “Now there are more than twice that many – but I still know every one of them. Many of us hang out together after hours. I golf with some and shoot bows with others. Some have been my friends for a long time. Connor Fannin and I were buddies back at Santa Fe Trail. We golf together and join my older brother and some other guys in bow hunting.”

Family

In 2021, Trevor married his high school sweetheart, Devin, an orthopedic nurse with Stormont Vail Health. They live near Lake Shawnee in Topeka. In March this year, their baby daughter, Cameron, was born. Trevor and Devin enjoy the lake life, going to Lake Pomona with their parents and brothers.

Sharing Knowledge

“At McElroy’s I’ve always felt like a trusted individual, never just a number,” said Trevor. “I don’t think any other company would have assigned me a van, and increasing responsibility as quickly as McElroy’s did. It’s just a great place to work, surrounded by helpful, supportive friends.” We appreciate how supportive Trevor is of his teammates. He has developed a remarkable amount of expertise for a young tech, completing his first decade as an HVAC professional. The way he graciously pours his skills and knowledge into others is a key reason we feel Trevor has a bright future ahead!
